Race Info

The races are held at Santos Bike Shop 8924 S. Hwy 441, Ocala, FL 34480. You will need to register to take part which you can do online or on the day. We recommend you sign up online as registering on the day can take some time and there may be a long line to wait in. Plus online sign up is less expensive for you!

There are two events happening each Wednesday, the free YOUTH race which starts at 5:30pm and the MAIN race (including the Junior Categories) which starts at 6:30pm. A detailed explanation of the categories are listed below for you to chose from. Please show up no later than 30mins before the start of your race to allow time for registration where you will be given your race number. If you have signed up online, you will still need to collect your race number which will be waiting for you! If you have signed up for all five weeks of racing, please keep your race number and use it every week but please still check-in at registration EVERY WEEK so that we know who’s racing. If you fail to check-in at registration, your race may not be valid and any points gained may not contribute towards the Championship. Points will be given to the top ten finishers in every category, 10 for first, 9 for second…1 for 10th. At the end of 5 weeks, the top three riders in each category with the most points will be awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Championship!

Race Categories

We are so proud and excited to be able to support MTB racing and nurture cycling in our local community! As you can imagine, it takes a lot of work to organise an event like this and we are delighted that our ideas are finally coming to fruition. In an attempt to attract a higher number of first time racers, a USAC racing licence is NOT required to enter the series. As such, anyone can enter any of the categories listed below (apart from age restriction for juniors). Before you enter, please consider the experience level we would expect to see of riders in each category. Remember, we are all here to have fun! Basically, NO SANDBAGGING.
Youth Category

This is a fun race aimed for kids who have never raced before or have not got much experience riding on the trails. It is a totally free event and the course is only 1-2 miles long. The course is supervised by adults but parents are welcome to help out or ride with their kids. Aimed at kids who are 8 and under. Race is at 5:30.

Junior Boys and Girls Category

This race is aimed for kids who are competent riding on their own. The course is a single lap and only covers yellow and blue designated OMBA trails. A fun event for kids who have either raced or never raced before and is aimed at ages 12 and under as of 5/1/17. Follows the same course as the Base category. If you have been on the podium before in a similar category, consider riding Junior Advanced to give other kids a chance! Parents are welcome to ride alongside. Races are at 6:30.

Junior Advanced

This is for the FAST kids out there with lots of experience with racing! The course will be TWO laps and will go on RED trails following the Sport and Expert riders. Ages 13-16 as of 5/1/17 (or younger, more advanced riders looking for a challenge). Race at 6:30pm.

Base Category

This race is aimed at beginner riders and first time racers. The course will not cover any of the Red OMBA designated trails and will be 1 lap of racing. People who have raced before and especially people who have been on the podium before in the base category should race in the Sport category. No Sandbagging! Races are at 6:30.

Women's Category

Racing the same course as the Base riders, but a category just for the ladies! race starts at 6:30.

Sport Category

If you have racing experience, this is the category for you! The course will cover Yellow, Blue and Red OMBA designated trails and will cover 2 full laps. Super fast juniors welcome! If you have won more than three races in the past year, we recommend the expert category for you. Races are at 6:30.

Expert Category

If you are the fastest thing on two wheels out there on the Santos trails, then this is the category for you. The course follows Yellow, Blue and Red trails and is 2 full laps. Races are at 6:30.

After Party!

We are excited to be partnering up with New Belgium Brewing Company and local restaurant, Mojo’s Grill who will be providing the afterparty. After every Wednesday race, each racer receives one free beer from New Belgium and special pricing on meals are available at Mojo’s! We will also be hosting the championship award ceremony on week 5 at Mojo’s restaurant.
